Resolutions

to resolve: to reach a firm decision about; to declare or decide

The end of the year is fast approaching; it is the time to decide on some positive goals (2: the end toward which effort is directed : aim) for next year and make resolutions to work toward achieving them. Take a minute and brainstorm your possible choices.

Open PowerPoint and construct a presentation with a title slide and a separate slide for each goal using only the text tools and auto shapes. You may change text/background color. No Clip Art; no Google.

Avi's Five Secrets

Five Secrets to Good Writing!

One: Write! It's not writing until it's on the paper. Story telling is a great art, but it is not story writing.

Two: Rewrite! No one-ever--writes anything well the first time. The first draft can not be the last draft. (I rewrite my work fifty-sixty times--or more). Here's a tip: read your first draft, and if you think it's good, you are in trouble. But, if you read it and you see it's not that good, you are in great shape--to get going. The more you rewrite the better your writing will be.

Three: Write for a reader: Maybe you understand what you have written, but the writer's job is to have the reader understand it. Keep in mind: writers don't write writing, they write reading.

Four: Listen. Read your work out loud (pencil in hand) and it will let you hear your own writing. It will almost improve itself.

Five: Read, read, read. Reading is the key to good writing. The more you read, the better the writer you can be. You can NEVER read too much.

Weblog Rules

1. Do not give out any personal information about yourself.
2. Do not plagiarize. Always write your posts in your own words.
3. Be aware that you are writing for an audience. Never write anything you don’t feel comfortable sharing.
4. Do not change your weblog’s e-mail address, username, or password.
5. Edit your writing to the best of your ability.
6. Use the appropriate tone and style when posting to your weblog.

This is a zero tolerance policy.
If you violate the rules you will lose your weblog for the year.

Bud's Blogging Experiment
Rules
This is the page for you guys to add and edit the rules that you think will be important for ourselves and for future student bloggers. Please be sure to give each rule a number and to post in a clear and concise fashion.
1. Please, no last names, school names or addresses.
2. Do not link to your personal blog/journal from your school blog; you might reveal information on there that you don't want to reveal on your school blog.
3. If you want to write your opinion on a topic, make sure you're not going to be offensive to anyone as you write it.
4. Always make sure you check over your post for spelling errors, grammar errors, and your use of words.
5. Never disrespect someone else in your blog, whether it's a person, an organization, or just a general idea. You don't want someone making a stab at what you are passionate about; don't do it to someone else.
6. Don't write about other people without permission; if you can't get their permission, use first names only. Never share someone elses last name.
7. Watch your language! We're not at home, we are at school, this has to be at least remotely professional looking.
8. Make sure things you write about are factual. Don't be posting about things that aren't true.
9. Keep it education-oriented. That means that you probably shouldn't discuss your plans for the weekend.
